Hello World!

Okay, this is so sad.  I set up this blog in 2008 and I just never got around to finalizing it till now.  Jeesh ... have I been that busy??  I guess I have.  I lurk and sometimes I comment on other blogs, so I suppose it's time I jump on the bandwagon.  In these days of Twitter and Facebook, did I join the party too late?  Only time will tell.

First off, let me introduce myself.  My name is Gwen and I was born and raised in Kailua, Hawaii on the island of Oahu.  I'm the 3rd youngest of 9 children.  Yes, you heard right, nine.  To make a long story short, my mom's first husband died leaving her a widow with 5 young children.  She then met my father and went on to have 4 more children, so yeah, I come from a huge family.  I have to say that I have a lot of respect for my Dad.  How many men do you know, who will marry a woman with  5 kids??  Yeah, I love you Dad, where ever you are, God Bless You.

We pretty much all got along with each other growing up, even though my older siblings were much older than I.  My 2 older sisters, Linda and Rogie, took care of us since both of my parents worked full-time.  My sister, who is a year younger than I, is the one I was very close to and was my "partner in crime" whenever we got into trouble when we were growing up.  I suppose, in time, you will eventually meet everyone.

Today I am a mother of 1.  Been free, I mean, divorced for about 10 years now.    My college age son will be 21 next month on Christmas.  Time flies.  My baby these days is Polo.  That's him in my profile picture.  He's a Tibetean Spaniel mix.  My other 2 furbabies is Nicky and Simi, two kitties I adopted from a cat sanctuary.

When I'm not working, I'm usually out wine tasting with the Wine Club, or out with the gal pals for lunch or shopping or making jewelry or doing whatever.  Weekends are usually busy for me.  Weekdays is down-time and usually spent reading a book or on the computer checking out all my favorite blogs and websites.  I don't watch TV as much as I used to.  Dancing With the Stars,  Castle or Hawaii 5-0, Greys Anatomy and Private Practice is about it.  Everything else on TV is either the news, sports or feature movies.

Well, that's it for my first blog entry!  How did I do?  This past year has been very eventful, so I'll probably be back-tracking and posting what I did this year.  Here's what I have coming up in future blogs: Kona Brewfest with the Wine Club, Sea Life Park with the dolphins, Las Vegas class reunion, Napa Wine Country with the Wine Club and Halloween at the Haunted House.  I also have some other goodies planned, so please come back and visit soon!

Until next time ...

Aloha-
